Lt. Annmarie Hackworthy, a newly commissioned U.S. Air Force pilot trainee, smiles during her incentive flight aboard an Alaska Air National Guard KC-135 Stratotanker with the 168th Wing during Red Flag-Alaska 25-2, June 24, 2025. Hackworthy observed U.S. and coalition partner fighter aircraft being refueled by Boom Operator Senior Master Sgt. Keith Rowan of the 168th Air Refueling Squadron. The flight provided trainees currently supporting Red Flag operations, who were awaiting the start of formal flight training, with a firsthand opportunity to witness the coordination and precision required between tanker and receiver aircraft. Observing the mission from the boom pod offered valuable insight into the teamwork involved, knowledge they will carry forward as future fighter pilots. Trainees also engaged with civic leaders during the flight, building connections between the next generation of Air Force aviators and the local community.
