168th Wing emblem

Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The yellow half of the shield suggest the midnight sun, a phoneme of the unit’s location. The compass rose set at 30 degrees to the east denotes magnetic variation of Alaska to due north and reflects the formation and lineage of the Wing in that area. The light blue half of the shield with a lightning flash between two clouds symbolizes the theater of operation for Air military power and the involvement of the unit in the nation’s defense. The bendlet with eight stars refers to the Alaska state flag, signifying the support the Wing provides to the State’s defense.
